Web-search-results-boosting
Consultant
I was fifteen years old, and a struggling learner
of Spanish as a sophomore high school student in the suburbs
of Upstate New York.' Doc
Humphrey', a Swiss born Doctor of Linguistics and former UN
translator, who spoke 9 languages (this is NOT a typo- yes,
NINE), was doing her best to impart an essential element of
linguistic philosophy to a bunch of bored teenagers.
“If you are speaking Spanish with a native
speaker, and in the midst of your conversation you run into a
word you do not know how to say, don’t reach for the dictionary.”
I kept drawing doodle pictures. She continued. “Instead
of the dictionary, use the words you already know.
Describe with those words the thing you are trying to
say...drawing the native listener into understanding the idea
you are trying to express. He will listen, and eventually understand. And
then- he willl tell you the right word for what you are saying. And YOU WILL then remember it. Permanently. Because that is how you actually learned your
native language. You didn’t
have a dictionary when you were three…”
Wow. I
actually kind of understood her point.
Now, I recognize the power behind this wisdom.
And how powerfully it can be employed
in the arena of search marketing.
A major component behind the power of search
is that it is about discovery. People go to Google, Yahoo, MSN,
typing in descriptive words that express the actual thing they
are looking for. Whether it be information,
products, or knowledge.
What does that have to do with “Web-search-results-boosting
consultant”?
Everything.
Here at Search Octane, we offer what has commonly
become known as the following standardized terms:
-
Organic Search Optimization
-
Natural Search Optimization (NSO)
-
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
-
Google Optimization
The list goes on.
But even many years into the phenomenon of
SEO becoming understood, accepted, and now, perceived (correctly)
as necessary and essential to any business online marketing
strategy, there is still a huge number of people who intuitively
understand the concept, but lack the accepted diction when going
to the oracle of Google or Yahoo to search for a service that
can do this.
A very woman who knows me, Anna, understands
at least in spirit, what we do at Search Octane. She was contacted
by Josh, an industry colleague. The emai belowl stemmed from
a conversation they had recently had earlier, about finding
someone who could help Josh’s company with exposure in Google.Below is a copy of the reminder email, asking
Anna to follow up on her referal to Search Octane.
The email consisted of a subject line and no text in
the body.

Web-search-results-boosting consultant?
Anna responded:
Josh,
meet Tom. Tom, meet Josh. Tom, Josh is the friend of the person looking
for web-search-results-boosting consultant I emailed you about
yesterday. You guys take it from here!
I think we all understand
very clearly what Josh was looking for.
SEO services. And Josh was doing
his best to describe that, but he lacked the technical diction. And so he was effectively finding this, by being
circumlocuitous in order to discover
something he wanted.
You probably see the point I’m building up
to. There is certainly a greater lesson to be learned
in this example. As Will
Rogers once said, “We are all ignorant. We are just ignorant
about different things.” Isn’t this what we ultimately are doing
as marketers? Connecting people who desire something, and are
ignorant of our product or service?
What an opportunity!
Do you see the power of circumlocuitous
Search? I could
spend day and night pouring tons of resources into being page
one of Google & Yahoo for “SEO Services”, and I would connect
with people who know exactly what they want and are quite possibly
researching every single possible service under the sun to do
it.
But I bet you I would be in a great position
if I could simply be #1 for “Web-search-results-boosting consultant”. And it would take very very
little effort in comparison.
And I would connect with people craving my service, and
make a primary connection with them. First.
In each of our respective industries, we have
esoteric terms and products that a larger audience may need,
but does not know its proper name.
I will bet that many of your potential customers will
go to their favorite search engine, and try and find it circumlocuitously. Will you be there to answer their call?
Contact us at Search Octane: we would love
to help you. We are the top Web-search-results-boosting
consultants in the business…
